Description: Maha shivaratri is an annual festival dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. Maha shivaratri is the main Hindu festival among the shaiva Hindu diaspora from Nepal and India. It is a major festival in Hinduism but one that is selemn and marks a remembrance of "overcoming darkness and ignorance" in life and the world.
               The great night of shiva, which is celebrated on the new moon day in the month of Maagha according to the Hindu calendar and is celebrated at night. It is a solemn event notable for its intro spective focus, fasting, meditation on shiva, self study, social harmony and an all hight vigil at shiva Temple's. People often fast on the night of shivaratri and sing hymns and praises in the name of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the people who fast on this night and offer prayers to Lord Shiva bring good luck into their life.
